More About Our Weight Management Program

Multifactorial

When it comes to managing weight, it's important to consider various factors such as genetic predisposition, metabolism, gender, age, hormone imbalances, sleep patterns, mental health, stress levels, and other medical conditions.

External factors such as work schedules, financial pressures, societal influences, and environmental cues can also significantly affect weight management.

There is no one-size-fits-all solution for long-term weight loss, and a personalized approach combining strategies and tools may be necessary to achieve sustainable result

Our Program

We provide a thorough weight management assessment that includes a detailed review of your medical and weight history, an analysis of your nutrition and exercise habits, and other factors that may contribute to weight gain. In some cases, laboratory studies, EKG, or heart studies may be required.

We offer an initial weight-loss plan and continuous reassessment and adaptation to incorporate the most effective tools for our clients. We can also start and adjust medication to aid in weight loss if necessary. Medical records, lab tests, and an EKG may be necessary before prescribing weight-loss medication.

Our Providers

Our dedicated team of board-certified nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers, and registered dietitians is deeply committed to delivering exceptional care. Through our integrated approach, we can comprehensively address multiple aspects of care, ensuring that our interventions are centered around the individual.

What To Expect

First Visit

Prepare for a successful first visit by completing the new patient forms at least one week before your appointment. This allows us adequate time to thoroughly review your information and tailor your experience to your needs. Please log on 15 minutes before your appointment and note your height, weight, blood pressure, and pulse beforehand.

During your initial consultation, which lasts about 1 hour, you will receive a comprehensive evaluation and a personalized weight-loss plan. Let's embark on this journey together. If necessary, we may recommend further evaluation through labs and an EKG.

Follow Up

Our standard practice is to schedule monthly follow-up visits during the active weight loss phase. However, we are flexible and can adjust the frequency of these visits to meet our clients' specific needs.

During these appointments, we will diligently track our clients' progress, address any obstacles encountered, and continue to optimize the comprehensive health plan. Upon reaching the goal weight, we focus on weight maintenance and spacing out follow-up visits at more extended intervals

General Cost

It's important to note that medical weight loss services may not be covered by insurance plans. Therefore, we recommend that you verify coverage. All of the listed weight-loss medications must be used with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.  Typical weight loss medications include:

  • Orlistat (Alli, Xenical): Reduces fat absorption in the intestines.

  • Phentermine-topiramate (Qsymia): Suppresses appetite and promotes feelings of fullness.

  • Bupropion-naltrexone (Contrave): Combines an antidepressant with an opioid receptor antagonist to control cravings.

  • Liraglutide (Saxenda): Mimics a hormone that regulates appetite.

  • Semaglutide (Wegovy): Similar to liraglutide, it also helps regulate appetite and is administered as a weekly injection.

  • Tirzepatide (Zepbound)- Activates  GLP-1 and GIP hormones that promote weight loss by reducing appetite and enhancing feelings of fullness.

Semaglutide (Wegovy) is a medication approved for weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with co-existing conditions. It is a GLP-1 receptor agonist, which means it mimics a hormone that helps regulate appetite and glucose metabolism.

Key points about Semaglutide (Wegovy):

  • Administration: Administered as a weekly subcutaneous injection.

  • Effectiveness: Clinical trials have shown significant weight loss in participants.

  • Medical Evaluation: A healthcare provider assesses overall health, including potential contraindications and any coexisting medical conditions.

Tirzepatide (Zepbound)  is an injectable medication designed to assist with weight loss, particularly for individuals with obesity or overweight conditions. It mimics the action of two hormones, GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) and GIP (gastric inhibitory polypeptide), which help regulate blood sugar levels and appetite.

Key features of Tirzepatide (Zepbound):

  • Usage: Approved for use alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

  • Administration: Given as a weekly subcutaneous injection.

  • Effectiveness: Clinical studies have shown significant weight loss in patients.

  • Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and potential gastrointestinal issues during the initial phase of treatment.

Liraglutide (Saxenda) is a medication used for weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with co-existing conditions. It is a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics a hormone that regulates appetite and food intake.

Key features of Liraglutide (Saxenda):

  • Usage: Approved for use alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

  • Administration: Given as a weekly subcutaneous injection.

  • Effectiveness: Clinical studies have shown significant weight loss in patients.

  • Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation.

Bupropion-naltrexone (Contrave) is a prescription medication designed for weight management in adults. It combines two drugs: bupropion, an antidepressant that can help reduce appetite, and naltrexone, which is used to manage addiction and also affects appetite regulation.

Key features of Bupropion-naltrexone (Contrave):

  • Usage: It is prescribed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

  • Mechanism: The combination acts on the brain’s reward system and appetite-control pathways.

  • Administration: Taken orally, typically in a controlled-release form.

  • Effectiveness: Clinical studies have shown moderate weight loss in participants.

  • Side Effects: Common side effects include nausea, constipation, headache, and insomnia.

Phentermine-topiramate (Qsymia) is a prescription medication used for weight management in adults. It combines two components: phentermine, an appetite suppressant, and topiramate, a medication originally used to treat epilepsy and migraines that can also promote weight loss.

Key features of Phentermine-topiramate (Qsymia):

  • Usage: Prescribed alongside a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity.

  • Mechanism: Phentermine reduces appetite, while topiramate increases feelings of fullness and decreases cravings.

For patients who want to use appetite suppressants, you'll need an EKG within the last 90 days. Thyroid tests and blood work may also be required before prescribing any weight-loss medications, and can be ordered at your initial visit. If you need more intensive heart studies, such as a stress test or heart evaluation, we'll give you the order to schedule it with a cardiologist's office, and the office will bill your insurance.
