Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

What Is A Registered Dietitian

Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) are food and nutrition experts who have earned the RD credential by completing a graduate degree at a U.S. regionally accredited university or college, an ACEND-accredited supervised practice program, passing a national examination, and fulfilling ongoing professional educational requirements.

Medical nutrition therapy (MNT) is an evidence-based implementation of the nutrition care process designed to improve health outcomes. MNT is important because nutrition has been found to play a crucial role in managing and preventing various diseases, supporting mental and cognitive well-being, and promoting overall health and wellness.

A Registered Dietitian provides MNT evidence-based care, including nutrition assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of nutrition-related conditions. Therapeutic counseling, developing objectives, and setting goals are also part of the process.
